Samsung Corporation is preparing a second version of its foldable phone, Galaxy Fold with an 8 inch screen and a S Pen. This idea sounds improbable at this point considering the fact that the public hasn’t even got their hands on the first Galaxy Fold. However with all the leaks Korean media has got their hands on, this idea does look a bit likely.
The first version of Galaxy Fold has 7.3 inch display when opened and 4.6 inch when closed. The new version will reportedly have an 8 inch display closely resembling the size of an iPad mini. Galaxy Fold was supposed to be launched in April of this year but the display durability issue has pushed the date. Although Samsung has said it would provide rescheduled date in numerous occasions, no date has been announced yet.
The new version of Galaxy Fold will also have S pen. Numerous Korean tech outlets have stated that Samsung has already requested their S Pen maker to start making the components. Galaxy Folds need to be integrated with Wacom Digitizer for the S Pen to be functional. However, nothing like this has happened for foldable surface ever before.

If the reports are to be believed, the production will start around August. If nothing obstructs Samsung’s way, the unveiling is expected to happen by December at the earliest while the official launch will happen somewhere around next year.
Samsung is already facing complications with Galaxy Fold and they’re now about to add more complex features. To add to the misery, the hefty $2000 price-tag is only going to get heftier.
This is a very bold and daring step Samsung has taken. They have a history of early devices being flops and then the same line of devices gradually catching the pace. Galaxy S phone for instance took 3/4 years until they were decent. However, it’s highly unlikely this could actually be the case. But it’s certainly possible the second generation of Galaxy Fold will be better than the first generation.
Any other design details or specs is still undisclosed. The 8 inch display and the S Pen are the only features we know about the Galaxy Fold 2 . With all the backlashes Samsung has been facing about its products recently, the worst thing they can do is rush. We hope Samsung comes with tons of improvements in the second generation, Galaxy Fold 2.
