Today, the company has announced New Nintendo 2DS XL-the largest version of kid-friendly 2DS. Nintendo has confirmed that the New Nintendo 2DS XL will launch in Australia and New Zealand on June 15, a month ahead of the launch in the US. It will cost AU $200.
Nintendo today announced a new piece of hardware: the New Nintendo 2DS XL. It launches in the US on July 28, priced at $150. The portable system will cost $150 when it goes on sale July 28th, with the same large screen and features of the 3DS XL, but as its name implies, it will only display “Nintendo 3DS, New Nintendo 3DS and Nintendo DS” games in 2D.

To expanding you game library Miitopia and Pikmin are releasing the same day as the new 2DS XL. The New Nintendo 2DS XL will be available in black/turquoise color shown in US and in Japan it launches July 13th in two colors, adding a white/orange option.
The New Nintendo 2DS XL offer the stereoscopic 3D screen that is the key feature of the 3DS, and it comes in a slate form factor. The system can play 3DS games, but without the 3D effect, of course. It also plays DS games. The screen size of the New Nintendo 2DS XL is same as New Nintendo 3DS XL. According to Nintendo, it “still packs the same power” of the New Nintendo 3DS XL. It also has built-in NFC support for Amiibo functionality.
“This new addition to Nintendo’s portable hardware line demonstrates our commitment to the hand-held market,” Nintendo of America president Reggie Fils-Aime said in a statement. “New Nintendo 2DS XL sports a beautiful clamshell design and offers a great balance between price and performance.”
The Nintendo 2DS version was first launch in 2013 as an entry-level device for children, the system features two screens but no clamshell hinge. The system launched at $130, before Nintendo cut the price to $100 and then down further to $80.
The New 2DS XL measures 3.4 inches wide by 6.3 inches deep by 0.8 thick; the New 3DS XL has the same depth and thickness, but is 0.3 inches wider. At 9.2 ounces, the handheld’s weight is matching to that of the lesser 2DS. Because the New 2DS XL has a C-stick and ZL/ZR buttons like the New 3DS XL does, it can play the few games that are exclusive to the New 3DS XL.
